Living Beyond the Law

Description: Receiving the spirit of Jesus gives life-not just believing something-such as that Jesus died for you. Believing that alone doesn't bring life.

Thank you for your question Peter. I trust our discussion will shed some light on your question. There is a promise that everyone has been given, it goes like this, “but as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name (Jn. 1:12).” We have been given the law so that we understand what God’s life is like. When we try to live up to this law by the power of our own will we fail time and time again, no matter how hard we try. We see very clearly, something is not working.
Then we finally see, we were made to be dependant on God, not ourselves. It is through God’s gift, His death on the cross that we can now obey the law. It is by receiving Him, and His Holy Spirit that we not only believe in Him, but we now can receive HIs supernatural life. It is this supernatural life from within that changes us from the inside out. The Holy Spirit gives us the power to obey the law from within. The law becomes very our nature, and we simply do what comes naturally. This is what it means to live above the law, i.e. by a higher power.
