Blog Post #4: Our Need for Salvation

Week 4 – Our Need for Salvation

This is now the fourth week of our “Spiritual Life Series” pod cast.  This is a picture of my father.  I grew up on a dairy farm and was privileged to have Godly parents.  I will always remember my father’s relationship with God.  It was so practical and real.  I have fond memories as we  completed the final chores of the day, my father would often sing his favorite song . . . .  it went like this.

“My God and I walk through the fields together.  We walk and talk as good men should and do.  We clasp our hands our voices ring out with laughter. My God and I walk through the morning due.”

It helped me to understand, our Maker wants to be our very best friend, what a privilege.  Our part in getting to know Him can be very simple and real, it doesn’t have to be an elaborate spiritual exercise, it can be very practical.

In my early 20’s, after leaving home I found my heart wanting more in my Christian life.  This is what I did, and it opened up a whole new world in my relationship with God.  I was hungry for change, so it was quite natural for me to find a quiet place where I could be alone.  I would listen to a Talk by Ernest O’Neill and then spend some time praying, asking God to open my eyes, sharing questions I had etc. etc.  I would talk to God like He was my very best friend.

I would invite us to share by making comments below each talk.  As time goes, if there are enough questions on a certain subject, we can set up a private group.   We all have a story to tell, don’t be shy, we’d like to hear yours.
